THE Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) will be conducting its second ‘One Stop Shop’ outreach, tomorrow, at the Ministry of Housing and Water premises in Brickdam, from 09:00 h.
It follows the first for 2010 that was conducted last month, in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam).
Minister of Housing and Water, Mr. Irfaan Ali reminded that the continuation and expansion of the concept is a critical part of the Ministry’s programme of actions to deliver a more efficient and transparent service to people.
He said they are anticipating allocating at least 600 house lots and that in itself, would be an historic accomplishment.
Ali said the Ministry will also be taking a number of new initiatives, in keeping with the charge from President Bharrat Jagdeo in his New Year address, to develop methods that would improve efficiency and expand the level of service.
Ali said, specifically, they will be publishing brochures that would outline building codes and regulations for construction so that persons would have information on quality, standards and basic tips.
He said another publication would focus on ‘doing it yourself’ and is especially designed for low income earners, outlining step by step methodology in building their own foundations.
Ali said the Ministry will also be sharing design options for low income families with complete bill of quantities and four commercial banks and two hardware businesses would be part of the exercise tomorrow.
“The ministry would be focusing on developing this partnership with the Private Sector in the interest of the allottees,” he said.
Ali said some other new innovations would include building contractors registration so that they can be monitored through a listing publicised on the Ministry’s website.
He invited persons to submit reports in the event they are not satisfied with the delivery by building contractors.
