St. Joseph Mercy Hospital resumes out-patient services
ST. JOSEPH Mercy Hospital, in Parade Street, Kingston, Georgetown, yesterday resumed out-patient services and Human Resources Manager, Mrs. Georgiena Mentore said the response was good.
“We are getting things under control here and so we had the out-patient service move back here from the Guyana Red Cross,” she said.
Mentore added that the efforts of staffers are commendable as they have demonstrated team spirit at a time when the health care facility needs it.
Meanwhile, the fire damaged section of the complex was demolished on Saturday and she said the rubble should be cleared by weekend.
At that time, too, Mentore said the patients housed at Davis Memorial Hospital should be moved back to St. Joseph.
The Lot 132 Parade Street, Kingston institution is one of the premiere health care delivery ones.
The blaze which gutted the eastern part last week Monday left losses that include offices of private doctors who functioned there, the Emergency Room, the Admissions and Discharge Section, the Nursing Service area, one of two operating theatres and medical records.
Chief Fire Officer Marlon Gentle reported that investigations into the origin of the conflagration are continuing but the findings could be disclosed soon.
