AN anaconda, 13 feet long, was yesterday dragged out of a trench in Rasville Squatting Area, Greater Georgetown, by 20-year-old Ita Forrester and four of his friends.
Forrester explained to this newspaper that the reptile was initially seen in his backyard after a fowl that it was attempting to swallow made an unusual noise.
As the reptile attempted to get back into the trench, just behind his house, he and his friends pierced its body with a pitch fork and pulled it out by its tail.
The snake was still alive when the Guyana Chronicle visited the scene and a small crowd had gathered.
Forrester said snakes of this kind are usually found in the area and while his family had some 20 yard fowls a short while ago, there are now only five.
