With the upcoming ICC 20/20 World Cup Championship matches that will be played in Guyana, and which would attract thousands of overseas spectators and participants, the Ministry of Home Affairs has been boosting its security capacity. The Ministry has announced that as part of the collaboration among CARICOM countries, the Government of Trinidad & Tobago, following a request by the Government of Guyana, has consented to send here four dogs and handlers competent in bomb detection and disposal, for the event.
The dogs and their handlers are scheduled to arrive in Guyana during next week.
This development will significantly boost the security arrangements that have been put in place to ensure that the games take place without incident.
