THE Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Dr Frank Anthony will this afternoon formally declare open the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Chetram Singh Centre of Excellence at the LBI Community Centre on the East Coast of Demerara. In addition to the hostel facilities for the accommodation of teams preparing for local and regional tournaments, the Centre, which is named after the current long-serving president of the GCB, Chetram Singh, has available indoor nets.
A gym, lecture room and full-size ground are all designed to turn out more rounded players who are preparing not only for regional challenges but also for the challenges of the modern game.
The formal opening ceremony begins at 16:00 h and those invited especially the members of the press are asked to use the entrance through the LBI Estate.
