THE New Jersey Arya Samaj Humanitarian Mission (NJASHM) says “thanks” to Mr. George Subraj and his team of medical doctors for doing the heart surgery of two-year old Udesh Ragubar and others in Guyana. With humble heart, I express my gratitude to all those who came to the aid to save Udesh Ragubar’s life during his recent medical crisis. We appreciate the kindness of our donors who have responded to my e-mails/phone calls and articles in newspaper, TV, and radio. You have opened up your heart and showed your concern by donating to this worthy cause of saving a child’s life, who was scheduled to undergo heart surgery in Canada.

This effort through Mr. George Subraj to assist and empower the lives of our young children in Guyana through his kindness and compassion is a truly divine blessing, especially to our young children who are future building blocks of our nation. I must highly commend Mr. Subraj, and the medical team and President Bharrat Jagdeo, and the Government of Guyana for embarking on such private-public partnerships in saving lives.
It was a pleasure and honour in meeting with Mr. Subraj and his wife on several occasions in support of The New Jersey Arya Samaj Mandir, Inc. Humanitarian Mission outreach and charitable programs to assist the less fortunate children and seniors in Guyana. I can truly testify to his kindness and compassion, and that he serves as a beacon in our community.
Following the recent publications in the Guyana newspapers, the parents were contacted by Pandit Sugrim and efforts were being made to have the surgery done at The Hospital for Sick Children in Canada. Pandit Sugrim president of the New Jersey Arya Samaj Mandir Humanitarian Mission (NJASMHM) had informed that after reading of the child’s plight, he traveled to Canada to make the arrangements. He had applied to the hospital after receiving an email with the medical documents from the child’s mother. Pandit Sugrim had said too that a ‘Good Samaritan’ Mr. & Mrs. Etwaroo has contributed US$2,000 to help the child and promised to donate more money “as soon as we get more information,” regarding the surgery to be done in Canada. The NJASMHM has also set aside US$500, Mr. & Mrs. Parmanad Lutawan had donated US$500 Mr. Suresh Singh from Six Star Auto Sales have donated $500.00 through the organisation. Seeing that the surgery was done free of cost in Guyana with the kind courtesy of Mr. George Subraj, Pandit Sugrim would contact the generous donors and let them advise him as to what to do with their contributions and upon that he will act accordingly.
The money had been deposited at a bank in the organization’s account and was expected to be handed over to the family as soon as the arrangements are finalized.
It is not clear what will now become of the money seeing that surgery was done in Guyana, but the child’s mother said she had contacted Pandit Sugrim and indicated that the surgery would have been done locally. She said the Pandit Sugrim had no problem with the new arrangements and he indicated that he would offer special prayers for speedy recovery for the child in his Sunday Service.
