LINDEN Foundation Secondary School (LFSS) moved to the top of the points standing on Monday when they humbled Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School (Multi), 62-26, after taking a 20-point advantage at lemon time 26-16: while New Silvercity Secondary School (NSSS) maintained their unbeaten streak of wins with a 66-27 whipping of Linden Technical Institute (LTI) as the Victory Valley Royals’ sixth annual Linden Schools basketball championship continued at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.
On Friday last Kwakwani Secondary School (KSS) ended their round-robin campaign on a winning note when they cruised past winless LTI, 79-33, while Mackenzie High School (MHS) turned back the challenge of Multi, 62-36, at the same venue.
In the win for LFS, Theodore Tappin had 21 points and Jeffrey Larose 14, while Stanley McIntosh was the top scorer for Multi with 12 points.
Marlon Pollydore had a tournament-high 34 points as he led NSS to their win over LTI with teammate Jermaine Johnson adding 14 for the winners. Timmon Fraser was the leading scorer for LTI with 10 points.
In the win for KSS, Dominique Douglas notched up 31 points, Dale Plass added 19 and Elvis Thompson 13 for the side which led at halftime 35-19 while no player for LTI managed to get into double figures.
In the other game MHS scored an easy win over Multi, 62-36, after they led at the break 29-18. Dwight McKinnon had 14 points, Parrish Cadogan 13, Kyle Stewart 12 and Sheldron Noel 11 for the winners, while Clint Ogle was Multi’s best
player with 10 points.
The win by Kwakwani means they are the only team to complete their matches in the six-team tournament and have ended with nine points from two wins and three losses and are currently second in the points standing. LFS are leading with 10 points from three wins and one loss with one game in hand.
NSSS also have nine points from a perfect record of three wins.
Defending champions MHS are on seven points but they have two matches after winning two of their three matches. Multi are next with three points from three losses while LTI are in the cellar with two points having lost their two matches played so far.
