Relatives convinced businessman shot dead was executed

Thursday night murder…
RELATIVES of murdered businessman Rajendra Vishwajeet Motieelall Sonilall, 43, of Lot 73 Mon Repos North, East Coast Demerara, are convinced he was executed, because he nor his business place was robbed.
A lone gunman fired several bullets into Sonilall’s body with a handgun Thursday night about 19:30 h, the victim was sitting alone under a shed next door to where he operates his business.
A few minutes after several of the dead man’s employees had left him, the killer walked past him, turned back suddenly with face covered and did the shooting.
Daughter of the deceased, Nandanie Lall, 17, told the Guyana Chronicle she was at home with her siblings and mother when she received a telephone call about the tragedy.
The teen said she and her mother hurried to the scene and found the lifeless body of their loved one on the ground.
She said she screamed and her mother was inconsolable as Police cordoned off the area and asked villagers not to touch anything.
Sonilall was conveyed to Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His daughter said, although her father had money in his possession, none was taken from him.
“My daddy was executed cold bloodedly but we do not know who might have wanted him dead. He has been in the fish exporting business for the past 28 years at the same location,” she said yesterday.
Sonilall exported salted fish mainly to Trinidad and relatives believe his execution was orchestrated by persons who owe him a lot of cash and had no intention of paying.
Police confirmed that Sonilall was shot in his head and abdomen and two spent shells were recovered where it happened. (Michel Outridge)
