Focus on the Family
THE ROLE of the family as the single most important source of positive influence in the life of children is negatively affected by some liberal members of the media fraternity. The life of our youth is not only affected by the misuse of this potent medium, but also by the lack of the proactive drive of some social leaders to inspire and encourage new beginnings among the fruits of this nation.
The launch of the ‘Inspire The Child-Inspire Change Foundation (ICIC)’ in June 2009marks a significant beginning in rekindling and rebuilding healthy and strong family values, where social leaders within every family unit can stand out as positive role models to their offspring and society.
The ICIC Foundation, in its formation, had drafted several primary aims it wanted to achieve in its short and long-term strategic plan, which are as follows:
1) To showcase children as positive role models to their peers
2) To foster a vision and attitude of collective development
3) To forge healthy relationships among family, friends and communities
4) To shape awareness that there is unlimited rewards in unity.
Following the launch of the ‘Inspire The Child-Inspire Change
Foundation’ in 2009, much has been realized. The foundation has
launched the ICIC Theatre Guild Projects; ICIC Radio and Television
programmes; the Inspire The Child book was published to coincide with
the Foundation’s annual event, which was held on November 28, 2009 at the National Park. In 2010, the Foundation started the ‘Effective Communication’ programme for children, and has published Guyana’s first children magazine, under the title ‘TUVIA-Inspire The
Child’.
‘The Speakers Academy’ programme is expected to be introduced
to children in 2010. From March 2010, the Foundation will resume its active role in promoting its multi-cultural events that will give children and youth the opportunities to shine on stage as singers, dancers, models, dramatic poets, competent and motivational speakers, fashion designers
and stand-up-comedians.
The Foundation’s role in its effort to rekindle and rebuild healthy and strong family values, and more so to inspire and empower youth is not based on a platform of religious imposition, but rather it takes into consideration the different social and cultural diversities of
people, which must be addressed in any effort to inspire and shape sustainable change and harmony among the peoples of this world.
Enrolling yourself or children in the ‘Inspire The Child – Inspire
