A GEORGETOWN Public Hospital (GPH) nurse appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and uttering a forged document. Gevita David, 24, of Lot 1827 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the offences.
Particulars of one offence said, between March 4 and 13, with intent to defraud, she conspired with persons unknown to forge one letter of permission to leave the country, purporting to show that it was issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, knowing it to be false.
The other allegation against the defendant said, on March 13, at Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, with intent to defraud, she uttered the forgery to an immigration officer, purporting to show that it was issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health.
On an application by attorney-at-law Mr. Paul Fung-A-Fat, David was granted $140,000 bail and the cases were transferred to Providence Court, also on East Bank Demerara, for April 22.
