Don't keep lone Olympian in the background

LATELY, I have been noticing some progress with sponsorships for sports development and DIGICEL must be accredited with the second-round knockout with its support towards the Mayor’s Cup football and the Guyana Boxing Board of Control.
I would now like to extend a new challenge to DIGICEL in the hope that some consideration is given towards this project. Being an independent sports fan and
observer, I am having a tough fight selling the idea of the erection of a bronze statue of Guyana’s lone Olympic medalist,  Mr. Michael Parris from the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.
I will forever maintain that Olympian Medalist, Michael Parris deserves the title of “Iconic Sportsman” and yes, rooms should become available for his presence within the sports fraternity.
We should never sanction the idea of having this sports achiever and greatness of The Golden Arrowhead to be forgotten and not involved with the development of sports in Guyana.
Keeping on sports, the thought did cross my mind whether efforts were made for an invitation to Michael Parris to sit at the table alongside the special invitee of Jamaican Olympian, Grace Jackson during a recent event where/that she was the special guest speaker to an audience of members of the GOA,Sports Fraternity, potential athletic ambassadors and other invited guests.
