AS WAS predicted, pugnacious East Coast skipper and opening batsman Brian Sattaur has been named the skipper of the Demerara team that will defend their Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)-organised, Guyana Oil Company (GUYOIL) Castrol brand-sponsored Inter-county Under-15 title this year. Sattaur emerged as the leading run-scorer in the recently concluded Demerara Cricket Board (DCB)-organised NALICO/NAFICO-sponsored Under-15 Inter-association tournament, leading East Coast to an upset victory over defending champions Georgetown.
Sattaur will be having as his deputy, West Demerara’s skipper Chandrika Persaud, while Georgetown’s Andrew Gibson, Terrence Alstrom, Prince Roberts, who is being tasked with the wicket-keeping duties, Vishal Narayan and Devon Lord in the Gavin Nedd-coached side.
Tagenarine Chanderpaul, the son of Guyana and West Indies middle order batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, the talented Kamesh Yadram and Premraj Lall, Ryan Chichester and Odiri Reid are all included under Sattaur’s captaincy for Demerara’s defence which starts with back-to-back matches against Essequibo at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground on Tuesday.
