The Inter-Religious Organisation (IRO) has met with the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) to discuss the issue of voter education and has adopted the initiatives coming out of the meeting to facilitate voter education at the various places of worship. The sessions will be facilitated by GECOM officials; and religious leaders, according to the IRO, are invited to participate in the programme.
Reverend Ronald McGarrell and Swami Aksharananda can be contacted at telephone numbers 626-1010 and 276-0019, respectively.
In a statement by the IRO, it was made clear that at the local level, these processes can affect lives and so members of the religious community are encouraged to facilitate these interventions.
