PARTIAL progress for this nation means that all of us have got to change or mind set towards image transformation and the world will look at us differently in the positive.
Come 2011, general elections will be held and which ever direction the results goes, I can only hope that civil society can begin with their transformation process and display good behaviour and respect whichever party is elected to govern this nation.
Failing to do so, we just have to keep patting our shoulders for continuing to stay behind.
With that being said, this will truly enable our athletic hopefuls heading to the London 2012 Olympic Games to leave with a more positive mind set.
I was also wondering whether Guyana is prepared for the challenge by purchasing “ADVERTISING SPOTS” during the ad breaks on international television to promote the gem of a pristine green beauty (the El Dorado).
For such a high level project to be executed, it will definitely have to be done through collaboration and pooling of resources amongst the government of the day, the tourism fraternity and the private sector.
I echo once again that the “LCD advertisement” on Guyana is a world class ad. And the persons behind the concept and creation did an awesome job. That particular ad always puts me on the edge of my seat and the more it comes, the more I keep enjoying.
A similar one can be created for the challenge in the air and “Iwokrama” would definitely have to be included.
Have we ever been represented at the Paralympics?
If not, we could begin some consideration and the deliberation process of preparing a couple of potential hopefuls for 2012.Oh yes, they do have a place in society and they also deserve the opportunity to participate on a competitive level with the rest of the world. Who knows, another moment of glory for Guyana can come from the sister games of the Olympics.
We did go all the way out with our humanitarian efforts for Haiti and we can also improve with our efforts towards helping to offset some or partial expenses of our athletic ambassadors when preparing to wing out to the big games.
I am certain that the Guyana Olympic Association would be extremely proud with such efforts coming from civil society and corporate Guyana.
I am not speaking for the GOA and I have absolutely no affiliation with this office. I do this independently in trying to get the public’s attention with the hope that they can be more proactive with their input. I also believe with the investment of athletes because they make up the front runners row that showcases and promote their homeland destination to the world over.
Having shared some views, I would like to remind Mr. K.  Yasin, head of the Guyana Olympic Association that I will be available to carry any amount of luggage and tags along with the Guyanese crew to the London Games in 2012. I have hammocks in all colours and I can also manage to walk along with an adequate supply of coffee.
I heard that they usually serve a small portion of coffee in a tea cup size and it’s pretty expensive in London especially at the Heathrow Airport.
