Three-car smash up at New Garden and Church Streets result in one overturning

SEVERAL persons escaped with minor injuries following a three-car smash up at New Garden and Church Streets, Georgetown yesterday morning.
The injured, Nacasey Patterson, 17, of the Business School told the Guyana Chronicle that she was in a taxi HB 3223 on her way to school and was in the backseat.

The teenager added that it was sometime after 8:30 h and she was toying with her cellular phone when she felt an impact.
She said that it was then she realized the car she was traveling in was involved in an accident.
The schoolgirl told the Guyana Chronicle that she was injured in the foot and was disoriented from the impact and could not say what transpired since she was not paying attention to the road.
Reports said the driver of motorcar PKK 7541 received the brunt of the accident and was rushed to the hospital after he was rescued from the vehicle, which had turned turtle on the roadway.
The car was badly damaged and left at the side of the road yesterday.
The other car, PHH 279 driven by a woman, who escaped unhurt and her car damaged in front, was too shaken to relate what happened yesterday morning.
Meanwhile, the taxi driver was observed speaking to the policeman on the scene, who was taking a statement. (Michel Outridge)
