Roger Harper elected as president of the GCA

FORMER Guyana captain, West Indies player and coach, Roger Harper, was on Wednesday night unanimously elected to the helm of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) by the affiliated clubs.

The former Windies off-spinner will be joined on the executive panel by Neil Barry who was elected First vice-president and Surendra Hivalal who was chosen as the Second vice-president.

Ken Alphonso will serve as secretary while his assistant secretary will be Ms Terry Pemberton. Harry Parmesar will be the treasurer with Dennis Wilson serving in the capacity of assistant treasurer.

First-class umpire Colin Alfred was elected to serve as the Public Relations Officer with Shawn Massiah being chosen as the Competitions Committee Chairman while Lance Hinds will man the post of Marketing Manager.

In his first remarks the new president indicated that hard work lies ahead but by working as a team the executive body can be successful in their appointed tasks.
