THE husband of the woman murdered at Corriverton, Berbice, on Monday was still in Police custody yesterday.
Investigators have ruled out robbery as the motive for the killing as the family jewels and cash were not missing when Nalini Bhoge called ‘Nalo’, 46, was discovered dead at her Lot 19 Line Path, Corriverton, home.
The discovery was made in a bedroom where the corpse, with the throat, neck and head slashed, was found about 09:00 h Monday.
Nearby residents claimed the relationship between Bhoge and her husband was stormy and they had been overheard arguing on Saturday night.
The man, reportedly the prime suspect, reportedly said he had gone out but returned to the house and was reading newspapers when he smelled something burning.
He is reported to have given conflicting accounts of his movements that morning when all three of his children were at school.
Police confirmed yesterday that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the unlawful killing of the woman, whose dead body bore several chop and stab wounds, with a bloodstained cutlass and ice pick near to it.
