Benn calls for betterment at Supenaam speedboat stelling

MINISTER of Transport and Hydraulics, Mr. Robeson Benn has expressed his dissatisfaction with the condition of the Supenaam speedboat stelling.

He said the pier and surrounding facilities look “very beat up” and paints a very ugly picture for visiting tourists.

Benn was in company with Chairman of Region Two (Pomertoon/Supenaam), Mr. Alli Baksh; Minister of Local Government and Regional Development, Mr. Kellawan Lall and Permanent Secretaries, Mr. Sewchand and Mr. Balraj Balram, when he made the critical remarks about nthe structure and its old rusty zinc sheets roof.

Benn was also not pleased with the way hire car drivers were standing behind the Police checkpoint, shouting to get passengers’ attention whenever a vessel arrives from Parika.

In discussion with Baksh, Benn said he wants the area to look better, so tourists and other travellers to the Region can have a good impression of what the place looks like when they step off the vessels.

Shortly after the Ministers left, by speedboat for Parika, Baksh spoke to the hire car operators at Supenaam.
