GROUND Structures Engineering Consultants (GSEC), has sued Raymond Latchmansingh and Colin Mattis Associates & Collins Engineering and Management Consultants, for in excess of $5M, alleging breach of a 2006 contract with Kwesi Hunte.
The 10-day writ filed in the Supreme Court Registry was accompanied by a letter of remorse, from Hunt, a specialist employee of the plaintiff, claiming he was used by the defendants to procure the unauthorised use of the plaintiff’s equipment to undertake work on four projects, in which CEMCO was to make ten boreholes, in three phases, on the East Demerara Water Conservancy (EDWC) and one borehole at Sand Hills.
Hunte had written to Charles Ceres, Managing Director of GSEC about the circumstances under which he was to undertake the borings and what followed.
The correspondence concluded: “I am sincerely sorry and remorseful for my senseless action to this day, because it has not only tarnished my reputation in the company and placed me as a deceitful person but also damaged my personal relationship with Mr. Ceres.”
Legal appearances in the case are Mr. Neil Boston for the plaintiff company; Mr. Anil Nandlall for Latchmansingh and Ms. Sandra Kurtzious for Mattis.
