A mobile police patrol on Christmas Eve encountered two men wearing uniforms that indicated they were security guards attached to a particular private security organization and on duty at a night club in Main Street, Georgetown.
Police reported that the security service had not applied for nor obtained the approval of the Commissioner of Police for the men to wear a uniform before commencing operations.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) yesterday stated that a security service cannot wear a uniform without the permission of the Commissioner of Police.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, the GPF said that with effect from yesterday Monday January 04, 2010, the Restriction Order placed on motor lorries traversing the East Bank Public Road from Houston to Timehri, between 06:00 hours and 11:00 hours has been rescinded.
