THE PPP Executive Committee should reverse their methodology in selecting their next Presidential candid date. Let the Central Committee collect names in possible preferential order obtained from local chapters. Based on a transparent process, they should list these names of preferred candidates in order of overall popularity and then have two “secret ballots”, one showing the five 5 highest choices, then another to get the final choice. Open ballots aid political and other pressure tactics. Just a thought.
It would be better if the people could vote for their party choice directly like in US primaries, but this is not Guyana’s way. By the way, why not broaden political governance by adding Civic members to the list?
