Police still hunting suspected terrorists Thierens, Jones

CRIME Chief Seulall Persaud said yesterday that the Police are still hunting for wanted men Kurt Thierens and Colin Jones, suspected to be members of the gang of eight who unleashed terror last November 4.

He said they are following leads and several persons were arrested and questioned.

The Assistant Commissioner (Law Enforcement) said the men came out of hiding that morning and cannot be found since.

After their criminal activities, on November 4, Police Commissioner Henry Greene told a November 5 press conference that it was not known that Thierens and Jones, who escaped from custody at Providence Station on July 17, when they were being held in connection with the Ministry of Health fire, had been in Guyana.

Earlier investigations revealed that the men may have left the jurisdiction but wanted bulletins have been issued for Thierens alias ‘Bage’ and ‘Glasses’ and Jones called ‘Bonny’ .

The Police said all information received will be treated with strict confidence.

Thierens, 31, is of African descent with black hair and brown eyes. He is five feet six inches tall and of slim built. His addresses were given as Lot 102 Middle Walk, Buxton, Lot 7 National Avenue, Triumph, also on East Coast Demerara, and Lot 219 Residential Area, Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

Jones, 20, of African descent, too, is thin built and five feet six inches tall, with black hair. His address was given as Lot 3 West La Penitence, Georgetown.
