A FATHER and his son were both remanded to prison yesterday on separate carnal knowledge charges.

Mohamed Safeek and Shazim Safeek (no addresses given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson charged indictably.

The older Safeek is alleged to have committed the offence on December 31, 2008, with a girl under the age of 14 years.

The allegation against the younger is that he, between December 1, 2008 and April 4, 2009, carnally knew a girl under the age of 13 years.

Defence Counsel Glenn Hanoman, who disclosed that the virtual complainants are sisters, said they first accused their stepfather and then the Safeeks.

The lawyer said the Safeeks are married farmers who, having been questioned in March, this year, have been cooperating with the Police.

They will have to make another Court appearance on December 15.
