THE Rotary Club of Felicity/Charlieville of Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Forsyth County of Georgia, District 6910, USA has received a matching grant from Rotary International to provide one thousand four hundred (1,400) wheelchairs at a cost of US$120,000 for distribution to the needy, differently-abled and senior citizens throughout our Rotary District 7030 of which Guyana is a part.

The chairs have been sourced from the Wheelchair Foundation of the United States, according to a statement from President of the Rotary Club of Georgetown Mr. Pradeep Samtani.

“Through our partnership with the above mentioned Rotary Clubs, Rotary of Guyana has been the beneficiary of the second shipment of one hundred and ten (110) of the wheelchairs,” Samtani stated.

Distribution is being done free of cost through the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Guyana to the most deserving cases.

The official ceremony to mark the delivery of this second consignment of wheelchairs to the recipients was held at the DDL Staff Club, Diamond, when  Past President  Mr. Gayapersad of the Rotary Club of Felicity/Charlieville of Trinidad and Tobago  and under whose  stewardship as Charter President this project was initiated, performed the symbolic handover of the chairs to Assistant Rotary Governor (Guyana), Mr. Keith Williams, at a ceremony witnessed by both the local Rotary family  and a contingent  of  Trinidad and Tobago Rotarians who  came over specially for the occasion.

The Presentation was followed by fellowship and lunch between all Guyana Rotary clubs, the recipients   and the Rotarians from Trinidad and Tobago.
