Ann’s Grove fire leaves 15 homeless

An afternoon fire at Ann’s Grove, East Coast Demerara, on Wednesday, displaced a family of 15 when it gutted the upper flat of a two storey building.

Police have since launched an investigation into the fire.

The owner, Esther Blake, was outside of the building when she observed flames in the upper flat.

The fire was subsequently extinguished by the Guyana Fire Service personnel.

No one was injured.
Meanwhile, police are conducting investigations into another fire early Wednesday morning at the Marics building on Charlotte Street in the City.

At the time, security guards on duty observed fire in the building and raised an alarm. Personnel from the Fire Service, along with the police, responded and the fire was subsequently extinguished.

During the blaze public-spirited persons assisted in the removal of a number of motor vehicles and other equipment.
