Defendants remanded on unlawful possession charges

NICHOLE Anderson appeared last Tuesday before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton and denied several charges of unlawful possession.

Anderson, of 62 North Haslington, East Coast Demerara, jointly charged with Sydney Fraser (no address given), denied that, on July 31, at Oku Backdam, Cuyuni River, they had 31 ½ grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

Anderson, also jointly charged with Kelvin Singh of Louis Road, Timehri, East Bank Demerara, also denied that, on July 31, they had four grammes of cocaine for trafficking and four grammes of cannabis in their possession.

Anderson alone faced two other charges of unlawful possession of a gun and ammunition.

It is alleged that, on July 31, she had a .38 Special Smith and Wesson revolver and five rounds of matching ammunition without lawful authority.

The defendants were remanded to prison and they will return to court on September 2.
