ALISHA Smith, who allegedly stabbed her reputed husband during an argument, yesterday appeared before Magistrate Priya Beharry charged with attempted murder. Smith, 22, of 47 Da Silva Street, Newtown, Georgetown, was not required to plead to the charge which said, on July 8, with intent to murder, she wounded Rishaba Dursrajh. Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram, prosecuting, said the defendant and the virtual complainant are reputed husband and wife and they had a heated argument on the day in question. He said this resulted in a fight and Dursrajh had a piece of wood while Smith was armed with a knife. Seetaram said Smith stabbed Dursrajh after which he was rushed to the Male Surgical Ward of the Georgetown Hospital. Dursrajh informed the court yesterday that he did not wish to offer further evidence against his reputed wife and the matter was subsequently discharged.
