ROBBERY defendant Shawn Bascom, 42, of Lot 110 D’Urban Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, was yesterday refused bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on July 16, he robbed Ronald Boodhoo of a $17, 000 bicycle.

Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, who successfully opposed pre-trial freedom for Bascom, said there is likelihood he will continue to commit such offences, because he is not a first offender.

The Prosecutor said Boodhoo had to let go of his bike when Bascom attempted to stab him with a knife.
The case has been put off to July 28.
