Two soldiers admitted to hospital

Two Guyana Defence Force soldiers were on Tuesday night rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), from Base Camp Stephenson, Timehri, both in critical condition, one suffering a severe stab wound and the other suffering a heart attack.

Private Kevin Abinsetts 19, of Calcutta Mahaicony, arrived at the hospital with a deep stab-wound to the left knee, and bleeding profusely. He was stabilised and admitted to the High Dependency Unit of the hospital. The injury was reportedly inflicted by a colleague at the army base, shortly after 19:00 hrs. The name of the aggressor was not disclosed.

Also treated at the institution was another male rank, transported by the same military ambulance, in a serious condition, after reportedly suffering a heart attack. Late Tuesday night, he was still being treated by doctors, as other concerned ranks remained outside the hospital, tight lipped, but hoping and inwardly praying for a good report.
