FUGITIVE from United States (U.S.) justice, Ghalee Khan made a second appearance on the drug charge yesterday at Providence Court. It followed the first in Georgetown on Wednesday but the case did not proceed because Providence Magistrate Priya Beharry did not have the jacket.
Magistrate Beharry informed Defence Counsel Glen Hanoman that the matter is still in Court Five in Georgetown and she adjourned to Monday, further remanding Khan to jail.
However, Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton, who presides in Court Five, told the Guyana Chronicle she does not understand how the file did not reach Providence as her clerk booked it out since Wednesday.
Khan, of Lot 498 Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt Park, in the city and Lot 1419 New York Avenue, New York, has pleaded not guilty to having, on October 23, 2008, at Diamond, also on East Bank Demerara, trafficked in three kilogrammes 408 grammes of cocaine, by supplying the quantity to convicted prisoner Orlando Dwayne Humphrey also known as Orlando Dwayne Ifill.
Khan jumped bail in the United States on a similar charge last year.
