A MAN, 32, was remanded to prison on Tuesday, by Essequibo Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty, before whom he faced an indictable charge of carnally knowing his stepdaughter. Particulars of the offence said the girl is between the age of 15 and 16 years.

The Court heard that the prisoner, who is an Electronics Technician of Pert Village, was left to take care of the virtual complainant, now four months pregnant and three smaller children, while their mother was at work, 20 miles from home.

The court was informed that the girl is four months pregnant for her stepfather.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Oswald Pitt successfully opposed bail for the accused, on the ground that the teen lives in the same house with him.

The case was transferred to Anna Regina Court, also on Essequibo Coast, for August 12.
