Church pastor, neighbour embroiled in noise nuisance allegations

GREGORY Griffith, 34, of Lot 2077 North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was granted $15,000 bail yesterday, by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson. The defendant pleaded not guilty to having, on July 7 in North Ruimveldt, operated a stereo music set which made noise so loud and continuous as to cause a nuisance to Anthony Miller.

Attorney-at-law Mr. Lance Ferreira, who appeared for Griffith, said the virtual complainant has a church in a house next door, where loud noise is also made late in the nights, much to the annoyance of the entire community.

Miller, claiming he is the senior pastor, said the church is licensed and has been in existence since 1985.

He said Griffith chooses to put on his music when their services are being conducted and the young people inside would, in turn, sing along with his vulgar music.

Miller also informed that he is engaged in another Court with Griffith in an assault case.
Griffith’s case will be called, again, on August 4.
