Alexander Village fatality…
SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD Vijai Sooklall, of Lot 178 Fourth Street, Alexander Village, Georgetown, the alleged unlicensed driver who caused the death of a woman last June 21, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday. He pleaded not guilty to the causing death, also in Alexander Village, where he allegedly drove motor car PEE 4518 in a manner dangerous to the public and fatally injured Louwatie Persaud known as Leila.
Sooklall denied, as well, other charges of unlicensed driving and breach of insurance last week, when he made an appearance in front of Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin and was remanded to prison.
But he, subsequently, secured the grant in the High Court, on a $300,000 bond, while the victim was hospitalised.
His next Court date, set by Magistrate Robertson, is July 15.
