ROYSTON Jerome alias ‘Rice’, 37, of Lot 763 One Mile, Wismar, Linden, was yesterday remanded to prison on charges of discharging a loaded firearm and inflicting grievous bodily harm. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle and particulars of the indictable offences said, on May 28, he inflicted grievous bodily harm on Anzel Marcello and fired a loaded gun at him, with intent to disfigure and cause him grievous bodily harm. Attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson, for the accused, claimed there are witnesses who can prove that the virtual complainant does not know who shot him. Defence Counsel also contended that the injury to the victim is not life threatening but his bail application was denied. Jerome has to be back in Court tomorrow. Also refused bail in the same Court was Sherwin Trotman, 29, of Lot 45 ‘D’ South Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara. He faced an attempted murder charge which said, last April 23, with intent to commit the capital offence, he unlawfully inflicted grievous bodily harm on Emmett Saucers. Thompson submitted that the victim did not finger Trotman on a police line-up but the Prosecutor refuted the statement and said the prisoner was positively identified by the man who was shot in his neck with a bullet still lodged in his shoulder. Trotman also appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octave-Hamilton on another indictable charge that said, the same day, he robbed Roodisdale Sutton, at gunpoint, of a gold ring valued $70,000 and a gold band worth $70,000.
That case will be called again on June 5.
