THREE members of the Integrity Commission were sworn into office yesterday by President Bharrat Jagdeo.
They are Mr. Fazeel Feroze, Ms. Subhadra Sukhai and Mr. Nigel Hazel.
They took the oath of office at the Office of the President complex in the presence of acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat and Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon, said the Chairperson of the commission is to be appointed after consultation between President Jagdeo and Opposition Leader Robert Corbin.
He told reporters Thursday that he had informed Corbin through the General Secretary of his People’s National Congress Reform party that the government will go ahead and appoint the three members.
“I did take the time to point out that the Chairman of the commission had not been identified nor has there been the necessary consultation on the appointment. But that ought not to prevent us from going ahead and swearing in the three members who have been through the statutory consultative process between the President and the Leader of the Opposition”, he said.
Luncheon added that the conclusion of the appointment of the Integrity Commission would await the consultation between the President and the Leader of the Opposition on the Chairperson of that commission.
