New Jersey Arya Samaj reaches out to fire victim family

THE New Jersey Arya Samaj Mandir, Inc. Humanitarian Mission (NJAM) responded very quickly to help a West Coast Demerara family in distress due the destruction of their house by fire in keeping with its vision  to reach out and help lessen human sufferings. 

The NJAM Humanitarian Mission presented on behalf of all its donors and contributors  the sum of US$1,000 US dollars to Mr. & Mrs. Soobas Ramgobin and his family to help rebuild their home, which was destroyed by fire on March 7, 2009 and the help could have not come at a better time as the NJAM Humanitarian Mission  and The United Arya Samaj Mandirs, Inc celebrating the 134th Anniversary of the Foundation of the Arya Samaj and this year team was based on the sixth principles of  the Arya Samaj “To do good to the whole world is the main objective of the Arya Samaj, that is, to improve the physical, spiritual and social well-being of all mankind.”

Representative of the Guyana Central Arya Samaj, Danraji Hemraj and representative of the New Jersey Arya Samaj Mandir Humanitarian Mission Guyana Chapter, Chitra Lall hands over the money to Mr. & Mrs. Soobas Ramgobin. This donation to the Ramgobin comes one week after the villagers of Windsor Forest/La Jalousie on the West Coast Demarara, donated what little money they could to help in the reconstruction process. While most of the residents contributed money, ranging from $100 to $1000, other residents lent their hands in the actual reconstruction of the house. The villagers donated a total of $195,000 to Ramgobin and his family. Pandit Suresh Sugrim complemented all those individuals who have reach out and embrace this family during their time of hardship, and this is what makes us human and believers of our faith.

NJAM said it has learnt that the reconstruction process was going well, and the Ramgobin family is expected to move into the house, when it is completed in approximately two weeks. The fire left Ramgobin, his wife and their six children homeless and void of any personal possessions.
