CONTRARY to the views of both Mr. Suseran and de. Freitas, I thought that the Guyana Chronicle provided a fair and balanced coverage of the Easter celebrations. 

There were several articles in the letter column enlightening people of the true meaning of Easter, including a very in-depth article by Mr. Suseran.   In addition, front page coverage was also given to the miraculous and glorious resurrection of Christ, including a stirring Easter speech by the President on the meaning of Easter as it relates to believers in Guyana and around the world. 

Though other activities were covered such as the Easter Bunny and the traditional kite flying which have nothing to do with the true meaning of Easter, the fact is the celebration of Easter was kept in the public’s eye and the message of Christ’s resurrection was on people’s lips.  For those who did not embrace the message of Easter, they also benefited from a free holiday auspices of the Christian community.
