– Two men in custody
DILIGENT investigations by the police and the commendable support of members of the public led to the recovery of a Nikon Camera valued at US$5,000 which was stolen from a Barbadian media operative who was in the country recently to attend the One Day International Cricket matches played at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence, East Bank Demerara.
Police reported that at about 15:30 hrs on Sunday, March 22, 2009, Barbadian Journalist Mr. Gordon Brooks reported to the police at the Stadium that he had left a bag with the camera and other articles in his seat while attending to other business, and upon his return the camera was missing.
Acting on information received yesterday, police ranks went to a house at Charlotte Street, Bourda where they arrested a man who was attempting to sell the camera. “Further enquiries led to the arrest of another man,” the Police said in a statement. It added that both men are in custody.
Meanwhile the victim, who had since left the country, was informed that his camera has been recovered.
