Linden Foundation, Mackenzie High play to goalless draw

LINDEN Foundation Secondary failed to convert two penalties but managed to head group B with one game in hand in the race to reach the semi-finals of this year’s inaugural Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Inter-School Under-18 football championship being played at various grounds in Linden.

In the latest first round match completed last Thursday, Linden Foundation Secondary and Mackenzie High School played to a nil-all draw, after Darrel George and Odel Allicock missed penalties on either half of play for Linden Foundation Secondary while Ron Fiedtkou played excellently for the Mackenzie High School.

Mackenzie High must rebound from this drawn game after losing their first game by a walkover if they hope to qualify from this group.

Today Wismar/Christianburg Secondary will be at home to Wisburg Annexe in a Group A clash.

So far  Group A results have Wisburg Secondary  on three points from one game, New Silvercity Secondary with three points after two matches, Combined Schools one point from one game and School of Excellence one point from two games.

In Group B Linden Foundation Secondary are top of the table with four points from two games, Wisburg Annexe have three points from one game, Mackenzie High have one point from two games and Wismar/Christianburg Secondary are on zero points from one game played.

In results so far available Combined Schools and School of Excellence played to a 1-1 draw with Owen Williams scoring for Combined Schools from an indirect free kick in the 49th minute while Julian Browne replied for LSE in the 56th minute.

Linden Foundation Secondary beat Wismar/Christianburg Secondary 1-0 with Darrel George scoring the lone goal of the game in the 69th minute, while Wisburg Annexe gained a walkover from Mackenzie High.

Then Wismar/Christianburg Secondary  edged New Silvercity Secondary 3-2 with Jason Welch, Mortimer Wills and Gary Gomes  scoring for Wismar/Christianburg Secondary in the 11th, 35th and 59th  minutes of the game while Joel McKinnon in the 22nd and Erwin Hope in the 66th minutes replied for New Silvercity Secondary.

In the last game played Mackenzie High and Linden Foundation Secondary played to a nil-all draw.
