THIEVING taxi driver Terrence Glenn, 45, of Lot 259 West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was yesterday given up to March 20 to make restitution to his passenger in a simple larceny case. Before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle, he pleaded not guilty to stealing two bags of ginger, valued $82,000, property of Lilawattie Singh, on November 14, 2008. The virtual complainant said she had arrived in the city from the North West District when the defendant drove her home and she asked him to return later and take her to collect the ginger from the boat on which she travelled. Singh said Glenn never returned but, when she went to uplift the merchandise, someone told her he took it, claiming that she had sent him. The woman said she later found out that Glenn sold the ginger at Parika Market, East Bank Essequibo. Glenn maintained that he had delivered the ginger to the owner but begged for time to repay Singh and was remanded to prison until his next Court appearance.
