CALVIN Francis, 24, of Lot 73 Princes Street, Lodge, was yesterday ordered to post a total of $50,000 bail on simple larceny and escape from lawful custody charges. He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle and pleaded not guilty to both offences. Particulars of one said, on February 24, being a prisoner charged with simple larceny, he escaped. The other allegation against Francis said, the same day, he stole 88 DVD movies worth $26,400 from Giftland Office Max, Water Street, also in Georgetown. Police Inspector Denise Griffith, prosecuting, said the defendant was seen on camera packing the DVDs in his bag and, when arrested, jumped through a Police car window and fled but was later apprehended.
Francis has to be back in Court March 13.
