FOR a long while the Inter-American Nursing School was in operation on Cummings Street with a big sign on its building with its name, students could be seen taking classes, yet the authorities both in the government and the Health Ministry failed to notice. It was after students suspected they were being fleeced by a teacher and made reports the authorities became aware. The person behind the nursing school was in Guyana before some three times posing as a doctor, setting up a laboratory and conducted business here before being found out and had to flee. After some time lapsed she returned in the full view of the authorities and set up a nursing school collecting high fees. The sleeping authorities took no notice. The Ministry of Health has to be more vigilant about persons coming from abroad setting up laboratories, health school posing as doctors giving treatment to unsuspecting patients while charging exorbitant fees. The woman who was in charge of the nursing school was so barefaced that she returned to Guyana to continue conning people. This was so because of unconcerned health authorities and Guyana has become a fertile ground for overseas cons in different forms. I do hope that the law deals with the lady in that she would think twice of going anywhere to fleece people posing as a professional.
