Women graduate from pastry making course

A GROUP of young women, some of them housewives, from Johanna Cecelia, Zorg and surrounding communities on Essequibo Coast, graduated last month after a six weeks course in pastry making.

Coordinator of the Johanna Cecelia Community Development Group, Ms. Parbattie Singh, said the graduates were taught to make cheese straws, cheese rolls, various types of buns and cakes, pinwheels, pizzas, shepherd’s pies, patties and pine tarts.

Group Chairman, Mr. Doodnauth Singh, commended those who were tutored at Johanna Cecelia Learning Resource Centre and will now be able to better prepare delicacies.

He said the just concluded programme can be a stepping stone from which the participants, who received certificates, can pursue catering and establish their own small food businesses and earn money for themselves. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
