Fifth man charged in $2.6M burglary case

COLIN Hooper, 31, of Lot 33 James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, is the fifth man to be charged in connection with the December 18 burglary in which booty worth $2.6M was stolen from the home of Christopher Northe.

The defendant appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle yesterday, on a charge of receiving a television set from Quacy Howes, knowing it was stolen or unlawfully obtained.

Howes, Devon Rodney, Neville Haynes and Robert Noble had previously made a Court appearance, last week Monday, accused of the heist.

Attorney-at-law Mr. Adrian Thompson, who represented Hooper, argued that the latter should not have been prosecuted as the television was not found on him but he had been implicated by another man charged.

Hooper was granted $70,000 bail until January 13.

Rodney, 32, Howes, 22, Haynes, 39 and Noble, 37, had already pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering the dwelling house of the same virtual complainant and stealing a five-piece music set valued $350,000 and gents clothing with a value of $1M, amongst other things making up the $2.6M loss to Northe and they are to be back in Court the same day as Hooper.
