A HOMELESS man, charged for break and entering a church, was, on Friday, November 15, 2019, arraigned before Magistrate Dylon Bess.

Paul Ramsawatt appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that, between November 11 and 12, 2019, at Waterloo Street, Georgetown, he broke and entered the Christ Church, Parish, with intent to commit a felony.

According to the statements presented by Police Prosecutor, Christopher Morris, on the day in question, about 01:00hrs, the security guard, who was on duty at the church, noticed a window on the eastern side of the building broken.
Upon further investigation, the said security guard saw the front door of the church open and found a bag containing a lighter and a fan in the door way.

A few minutes later the defendant was seen running away from the premises. The police were summoned and Ramsawatt was arrested and charged.
Police Prosecutor Morris noted that, Ramsawatt was before the court for a similar matter and was sentenced to prison.

However, Ramsawatt pleaded with the court and told the Magistrate that he’ll never commit an offence again.
Magistrate Bess, after listening to the statements presented in court, sentenced Ramsawatt to nine months in prison.
