Independence anniversary celebrations…

THE Georgetown Mayor and City Council at a press conference held on Wednesday, informed the public of areas allocated for vending at the independence flag-raising ceremony, May 25, and for the Guyana Carnival Parade, May 26, 2019.

Social Development Officer of the Mayor and City Council of Georgetown, Wesley Adams, who is a part of the Guyana Carnival Committee, informed the Guyana Chronicle that registration commences on Monday, May 20, 2019. Adams disclosed that no trampolines will allowed on May 25, 2019; additionally, persons who are interested in vending on the night of May 25, will have to come into City Hall to secure spots .

According to Adams, no vending will be allowed on Hadfield Street or Homestretch Avenue, Carifesta Avenue and near the GDF compound. Additionally, Adams disclosed that persons who will be selling beverages will not be allowed to use glass bottles on the night of May 25; this is for security reasons.

Spots secured for the flag-raising ceremony are not automatically assigned for the “Carnival Road March”, as additional registration and fees will apply.
