Inaugural Massy Technologies Microsoft Invitational golf tourney set for today

FOR the first time, computer software developers Microsoft Technologies, through their local authorised company, Massy Technologies (Guyana) Ltd, the Microsoft brand will tee-off a golf tournament today at the Lusignan golf course.

General Manager Jason Sahai, expressing his delight at Massy Technologies’ involvement in golfing in Guyana, hinted that this event could become an annual feature between LGC and Microsoft.

Sahai said, “Most companies are moving away from buying computers and servers for their IT department … everything is hosted in the ‘Cloud’. It’s a set of data centres all across the world, so that if something happens to your data centre, your document is still stored somewhere else. …if you move (data) to the Cloud, you can always access it as long as you have internet.”

He envisions Cloud services dominating Guyana’s IT sector, within the next three to five years.
Today’s tournament is set to tee-off at 12:00hrs.

The tournament will be played in the Medal-Play format and is expected to be played in three flights. Prizes will be awarded for top Net performances and for the Nearest the Pin.
The public is invited to witness the tournament free of charge.
