Alphonso continues impressive run

THE Farfan & Mendes Junior Skill Level Tournament continued on Thursday night at the Georgetown Club courts with matches in eight of the nine categories being contested.
In Category A Michael Alphonso continued his impressive run with another straight sets victory, this time over Gianni Carpenter winning 11-3, 11-9, 11-4 while in Category B Nicholas Verwey was equally impressive as he disposed of Abosaide Cadogan with relative ease – 11-4, 11-6, 11-6.

Also in Category B Kirsten Gomes had a much tougher time needing four games to eventually beat Mohryan Baksh 11-4, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8.
In Category F, Grant Fernandes remained unbeaten after defeats over Matthew Spooner 11-3, 11-8 and Noah Rahaman 11-3, 11-4 and was crowned champion in this category.
Results of the matches played on Thursday evening are as follows.

Category A
Michael Alphonso trounced Gianni Carpenter 11-3, 11-9, 11-4.

Category B
Nicholas Verwey thrashed Abosaide Cadogan 11-4, 11-6, 11-6.
Kirsten Gomes beat Mohryan Baksh 11-4, 7-11, 11-7, 11-8.

Category C
Shiloh Asregado defeated Chad De Abreu 11-1, 11-6, 11-6.
Louis Da Silva smashed Osmond Mack 11-5, 11-4, 11-3.

Category D
Joshua Verwey whipped Beau Fernandes 11-6, 11-5, 11-5.
Lajuan Munroe crushed Nathan Rahaman 9-11, 11-1, 11-1, 11-5.

Category E
Dhiren Persaud routedAram Chan 11-1, 11-6.
Aishani Persaud overcame Angel Rahaman 11-3, 11-13, 11-4.

Category F
Grant Fernandes beat Matthew Spooner 11-3, 11-8.
Christiana Fernandes defeated Safirah Sumner 11-5, 11-9.
Grant Fernandes trounced Noah Rahaman 11-3, 11-4.

Category G
Romero Muniram beat Matthew Daly 11-9, 11-3.
Tristan Seereeram overwhelmed Tiana Gomes 6-11, 11-6, 11-6.
Matches continue today from 11:00hrs with the finals set for tomorrow at 11:00hrs.
