– to help ease congestion during commute

OVER 300 commuters who travel daily from Rosignol to New Amsterdam by means of the Berbice River will now receive better service through the donation of two new speedboats.
The vessels, worth $23.2M, were handed over by the Ministry of Public Infrastructure’s Transport and Harbour Department (T&HD) on Thursday at the New Amsterdam stelling.
The boats have been named Blessed 1 and Blessed 2, and will be up and running today from 06:00hrs to 9:30hrs and from 14:30hrs to 18:30hrs.

The vessels were commissioned by Minister within the Public Infrastructure Ministry, Annette Ferguson in the presence of the Regional Executive Officer of Region 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne) Kim Williams-Stephens.

Present, too, were T&HD General Manager, Marcelene Merchant and T&HD Chairman Basil Blackman, who assisted in the cutting of the ribbon to officially commissioned the two vessels.

In her brief remarks, Minister Ferguson hailed the commissioning of the vessels as another fulfillment towards the government’s promise of a good life for all Guyanese.
