-Vehicle found abandoned at Soesdyke Junction
A pensioner of Land of Canaan Village, East Bank of Demerara (EBD) was tied up and robbed Friday night by two armed bandits who pounced on him while he exited his vehicle at his home.
Reports indicate that the 78 -year old was returning home from a bank on the EBD when he was confronted.
Upon leaving his vehicle, a grey CRV PSS 1375 , a handgun was pointed at him and he was led inside his home, which was unoccupied. The bandits then tied the pensioner up with his belt and began ransacking the home.
The robbers collected a quantity of electronics, grocery, liquor, suitcases, the pensioner’s passport and an undisclosed sum of cash. The bandits then took the CRV and escaped with the valuables.
The pensioner after managing to untie himself alerted the police; his CRV vehicle was later recovered at the Soesdyke highway junction and was taken into police custody as investigations continue.
